Cultures that Enable Change
What is a culture? What is it that makes a culture come to exist in every organization where multiple human beings must interact in order to accomplish a goal? Is a culture the plan a company uses to accomplish its goals? Strategy is the plans and direction a company decides it wants to pursue through its operations in the future. A company culture is the feel of the environment that exists between employees within a company in response to the multiple demands a company experiences under pressure from competitors, growth, and stakeholders. As cultures develop, the true values that exist within the company and the employees that make it up are manifest. Since business today is all about change and developing to the ever-changing demands of the global market, the company that can adapt the most efficiently and quickest will have an advantage over its competitors. Since every company has a culture, are there cultures that encourage drastic change in the world today? Additionally, are there cultures, or components of certain cultures that make it more difficult to change successfully when change is necessary? We can come to understand what components of a company culture are the most conducive to adapting to the ever changing global market of the modern world as we look at companies that have been able to change and those that have not and break down the key components of each company’s culture.
